Friday Favorites

Before I reveal this week's top favorites of mine, I just want you all to know that if you're kind of wondering where are all of the super original and engaging posts lately, they're stuck in this thing I like to call writer's block. So if you have any ideas for me, hit me up. I may write a little post on JCP's new business strategy that they unveiled this week. I'm very interested to see how it works out for them! Anyways, here's my list for the week.

Thursday 13: Pet Peeves

Linking up again this week with Annelise from Aunie Sauce for the second post in the Thursday 13 series. The theme for this week is Pet Peeves. If I've offended you, my B. Just know that you probably have a list of 13 pet peeves yourself, and these are just mine. Here we go..

13 Pet Peeves:

13. When you just so happened to have sat next to those two girls in class with the conversation that goes somewhat like this: "Like, oh my god. You are not going to believe what happened!!" "Omg what?!" "---insert obnoxious conversation here---" Please. Just stop.

12. Say you work at the mall, and there is a little cookie shop right across from the store you work at. All you want to do on your short 15 minute break is walk over, grab yourself a little sweet treat and water, head back and into the break room so you can sit and relax. Now, imagine one of those kiosks with the lotion lady that stands between you and your cookie. She stops you, grabs your hand, proceeds to give you her lotion demonstration and sales pitch. You go ahead and let her because you don't know how to stop her. And then it happens every time from there on out as if you're living a little comedy sitcom. (This doesn't always happen, but used to back in the day when I worked at Victoria's Secret)

11. When people who've never had a dog/puppy and a) try to tell you that you're being mean by punishing them when you're housebreaking them or b) they tell you that you're cruel for keeping them in a cage. Stop!

10. That girl that obviously can't hold her liquor so she's sloppy & all over the place. I mean, we've all had our moments but still, c'mon.

9. Playing that whole texting game with guys......when did the whole dating game become some complicated?! It should be simple.

8. When the professor moves through her PowerPoint slides too fast and you haven't finished writing everything down yet.

7. Bad Hair Days

6. Congress & the overall government. That's all I'll say.

5. When people interrupt me. Nothing frustrates me more!

4. Scratch that. When people with a very strong opinion won't even let you explain yours because they've decided since you don't agree that it's wrong. Don't be rude. Hah, for real though.

3. Unnecessarily using vocabulary words that nobody has ever even heard of at every chance you get! Are you just passive-aggressively trying to prove to people that you're smarter? Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. Yeah.

2. When you text someone & they don't text you back. Just go ahead and tell me that you hate my guts and never want to speak to me again..Or that you're busy. Or hey, how about you not get so upset with me when I don't text you back right away haha.

1. Racism and supreme ignorance.

What To Wear: Winter Wonderland

Yesterday I received my first ever blog post request! Sure, it was from my one of my besties, Shereditthe, but nonetheless it kind of made my day! She lives up in New York & finally saw some snow this week, so she needed some Winter Inspiration! So here we go...

What To Wear in a Winter Wonderland:

Layers, Layers, Layers

Growing up in Houston & South Florida where it rarely gets down to 40 degrees except for a brief couple of hours in the morning I had the hardest time learning how to layer. Nevertheless I've learned the beauty of scarves, leg warmers, knee-highs, gloves, hats & boots as your winter staples.

Target has a wide selection of knee-highs and legwarmers. Just the other day I found a variety of knee-high socks on clearance for just $1.25/pair! Others are marked at approximately $5-$7
Convert old sweaters that don't fit anymore into fingerless-gloves!
Be comfy && stylish. Start with a pair of leggings, add an over-sized t-shirt, large scarf and/or long sweater. Add boots -- Done.
Spice up your outfit with some faux-fur vests and chunky gold jewelry

Thursday 13: Unrealistic Wishes

Aunie Sauce

Hey everyone. From here on out, I'll be joining Annelise over at AunieSauce to join in on a link-up called "Thursday 13". Each week is a different topic to learn 13 new things about me. Sound like fun? Join in by clicking the link above!

So, let's get a little more personal here & learn 13 of my unrealistic wishes:

13. Have lunch with Audrey Hepburn.

12. Be Lauren Conrad for a day

11. Have my own reality show like "The Hills", become wildly popular, rich & fabulous while using my talent to host outrageous events and influence style

10. Eat whatever I want at every meal & get the same results as eating a super healthy diet!

9. That I could vacation to Bora Bora, Bali, France & Italy right now

8. Which leads me to my next one -- Teleportation.  It would make visiting friends & family that live far so much easier!

7. Have a voice like Kelly Clarkson so that when I step on the stage for karaoke & let the first note out I astonish the audience!!

6. For that matter, I'd like to be a rockstar! (Not forever, but like a couple months would be cool. Just long enough to enjoy the stage, the fame, and maybe an award show)

5. Have a life similar to the Kardashians....Haha, Ok let me explain this one. They have an unbelievably successful business called Dash which started out as one boutique. In the same shopping center is a sister store which is a Children's Boutique. They work side by side with their sisters (which our also their best friends). Not to mention that money is not an issue for them, so they have the best closet.

4. Would love to have all that in life, but still remain a very down-to-earth person. Live the life of a celebrity while remaining extremely personable.

3. Make blogging a career so that I could expand with a super awesome website like LaurenConrad.com & The Beauty Department, spending my day writing & doing photo shoots.

2. FLY -- Like Super Man. I once had a dream that I was flying through New York or something, in between all the super tall buildings and it was awesomeeeee!!

1. Build my dreamhouse right now, and spend every day spoofing it up (Painting, Decorating and picking out furniture, setting it up, etc).

Tune in next week for a new topic!

Tuesday 10: Golden Globes 2012

With the red carpet season heating up, Sunday displayed a handful of gorgeous designs and beautiful stars! I had to trim this list from 20 top picks down to 10. Some trends you saw working the red carpet were bold reds, sweet champagne, and fishtail style gowns. Here's my Top 10 Picks:

10. Sarah Hyland, Vintage Dolce & Gabanna. Poor girl's zipper broke while she was walking down the red carpet. Crew had to literally sew her into the dress!

9. Reese Witherspoon, Zac Posen. Strapless, sweetheart neckline, fishtail gown. Simple & Stunning.

8. Sarah Michelle Gellar, Monique Lhullier. Blue tie-dye strapless gown with pickup accent. She said that her little 2 year old daughter had picked out the dress. I love it! Others talking about it said they hated it. What do you think?

7. Charlize Theron, Dior Couture. Beautiful work from the house of Christian Dior with the deep neckline and front slit polished with a bold accent at the waist.

6. Angelina Jolie, Atelier Versace. Classic style gown with open front slit, starburst accent at the hip and red panel at the neckline matched with red lips. Love it or leave it?

5. Diana Agron, Giles. Candy apple red, tiered gown with laser-cut swan details. Even more breathtaking with a closer look.

4, Sophia Vergara, Vera Wang. Trendy fishtail style, strapless gown. Beautiful blue color and loving the intricate lines in the bottom part of the gown.

3, Zoey Deschanel, Custom-made Prada, 60's Inspired, Peace-sign back feature. Emma Peel from "The Avengers" (1960's) inspired hair and makeup. Gorgeous embellished collar.  So vintage! I'm kind of obsessed.

2. Kate Beckinsale, Robert Cavalli. Ethereal strapless gown with delicate & feminine details. Breathtaking design on the dress complete with stunning hair, makeup and accessories.

1. Elle Macpherson, Zac Posen. Ivory strapless dress with tulle fishtail. Absolutely stunning!

Do you agree with my picks? Think we'll see more of these trends in 2 weeks for the Screen Actors Guild Awards? Stay Tuned!
